My name is Bruce Spencer, the creator of this event, and I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself. In 2004, while on my way to do contract work in Calgary I stopped to pick up material from another branch. A few minutes after leaving, my phone rang. The owner of the company I was contracted to asked me to stop and wait because the manager wanted to see me again. Approaching my truck, he asked if I was OK. He went on to say that he was concerned as he had noticed my leg dragging and a problem with my mobility. It was my first memory of my diagnosis with Parkinson's Disease. From that day on, my life has never been the same. It has affected every aspect of my life. What was once easy became difficult, and my confidence suffered. I decided I could not live this way, and nobody else should have to, either.

And so, out of the desire to make a difference, Parking for Parkinson's was born. With this event, my team and I are endeavouring to raise money to benefit Parkinson's research. This research has improved greatly over the years, with many major cities in Canada providing ever evolving care to patients and their families. With your help, someday we may be able to eradicate this debilitating disorder. All proceeds raised through Parking for Parkinson's events goes directly to this research.
